Fae Farm: How to Craft

Fae Farm is a vibrant farming simulator where players can immerse themselves in a world teeming with magical creatures, bountiful harvests, and towering trees. However, mastering this enchanting realm requires a firm grasp of its intricate crafting and upgrading systems.

Life on Fae Farm can be challenging, with vital tools and machinery necessitating special ingredients or handmade creations. While some aspects of gameplay are straightforward and become clearer as you progress through the storyline, there are numerous items crucial for quests that demand creative thinking or unconventional discovery methods.

Whether you’re seeking a head start on your journey or struggling to find specific ingredients, this guide provides valuable tips. Although it doesn’t cover every unique item in the game, it offers guidance on gathering and crafting some of the most challenging elements in Fae Farm.

Locating Arugula in Fae Farm

Arugula is a seasonal crop required early in your adventure. You’ll discover it growing on your homestead as a dark green, leafy plant. Additionally, it can be found near West Town, where animal ranchers reside. As the game progresses, you’ll encounter Dandelion Greens and Tea Leaves in similar locations.

Tracking Down Sardines in Fae Farm

At the depths of the Saltwater Mines, you’ll be tasked with providing three sardines to a mysterious entity. To catch these fish, acquire the Fishing Rod from Eddy, and venture to the beach on the rightmost side of the map, near the Mines. Cast your line around this area, including in front of the Mines and to the left around the bay pillars, to eventually secure the required sardines.

Unearthing Silt and Clay in Fae Farm

Silt and Clay can be found by obtaining the Shovel and digging in dirt patches around your farm or within the Saltwater Mines.

Discovering Sand in Fae Farm

Similar to Silt and Clay, Sand can be uncovered with the Shovel, by digging in dirt patches around Azoria’s main beach. In this area, you’ll also stumble upon Sand Dollars and Coral.

Hunting for Gems (Citrine, Peridot, Diamond, Obsidian) in Fae Farm

Gems in Fae Farm are exclusively found in one of three dungeons, each harboring its own unique, sparkling treasure. Gem rarity corresponds to dungeon levels, with Diamond and Obsidian being the rarest, located in the lower floors of the Scorched Caverns. Here’s where you can locate these precious gems:

  • Saltwater Mines: Citrine, Peridot, Aquamarine, Topaz
  • Floating Ruins: Amethyst, Rose Quartz, Sapphire, Emerald
  • Scorched Caverns: Ruby, Garnet, Diamond, Obsidian

Procuring Ore in Fae Farm

Just like gems, ore necessary for upgrading tools in Fae Farm is closely tied to dungeon exploration. Each dungeon offers a unique ore, and you’ll need to conquer each one to gather materials for your homestead. Here’s where you can find ores:

  • Saltwater Mines: Copper Ore, Iron Ore
  • Floating Ruins: Feyrite Ore, Silver Ore
  • Scorched Caverns: Orichalcum Ore, Gold Ore

Collecting Snow Flakes in Fae Farm

Snow Flakes can be obtained by placing specific critters in the craftable Mountain Critter Observatory during the later stages of the game. The critters required for this item include the Snow Crab and the Crystal Fly. Snow Flakes are primarily needed for crafting heat potions to enter the Scorched Caverns, which also necessitate collectible Steel Cut Clover. To obtain the latter, forage Clover Feed from the Elven Village and then place it in the craftable Potion Ingredients Station.

Unlocking New Soil Beds in Fae Farm

To unlock Soil Beds and cultivate new crops, you must gather various ingredients and progress through the main plot. New Soil Bed blueprints are typically rewards for completing quests, so exercise patience if you’re aiming to craft Fae Crops and other items.

For Basic Soil Beds, accessible in the early game, gather silt, sand, and Beech Logs (acquired by cutting down trees with an Axe). The Flower Soil Bed, required for an early game quest, can be crafted using an Oak Log (from darker-colored trees), Silt, and Mulch (found in leafy patches in the unlockable Upper Homestead farm and other regions outside of town). The Fae Soil Bed, for growing special Fae crops, can be crafted using Shade Jelly (found in the Floating Ruins), Flutterwood Log (obtained from trees in the Elven Village), and Spriggan Leaf (shed by the Spriggan creature, which can be adopted in the Elven Village).

Note: You can eventually establish regular flower beds in the Elven Village, sharing properties with Fae Soil Beds, so don’t feel pressured to craft these immediately.

Crafting Lumber in Fae Farm

To craft Lumber in Fae Farm, use your axe to chop down trees, then process these logs through the craftable Lumber Station. You can construct this machine by accessing the crafting menu while on your Homestead; it requires 15 Beech Logs, 2 Stone Bricks, and one Copper Ingot (Bricks and Ingots are made using the craftable Stone Forge). Each area in the game offers a unique type of lumber, so explore thoroughly to unlock stronger building materials.

Obtaining Milk in Fae Farm

To acquire Milk in Fae Farm, advance the story until you can unlock the Upper Homestead Barn. Once this location is accessible, visit Jeremiah in the Plains of Plenty to purchase a Mamoo, then place this creature in your barn. After a day or so of care, it will start producing Milk.

Unlocking Complex Food Dishes in Fae Farm

As you progress in Fae Farm, you’ll need to prepare complex food dishes from chopped or grilled ingredients. Four distinct machines are essential for crafting such dishes: the Cooking Fire, Food Prep Table, Artisan Table, and Beverage Station. Most dishes can be cooked solely on the Cooking Fire, but some require initial preparation at the Food Prep Table before cooking on the fire. Special dishes like Teas and Juices necessitate the use of the Beverage Station, while items like Mayonnaise, Cheese, Jam, and Pickles require the Artisan Table.

Note: The Cooking Fire and Food Prep Table are outdoor items, whereas the Artisan Table and Beverage Station are indoor items.

Upgrading Your Tools in Fae Farm

Throughout your journey in Fae Farm, you’ll acquire various tools, each of which should be upgraded as you gather new ores, skills, and ingredients. Upgrades not only provide exciting new abilities but are also essential for advancing the main storyline.

To upgrade your Fishing Rod, visit Eddy in Stay-A-While Bay. Fishing rod upgrades require both cash and a high Fishing Level. For upgrading your Critter Net, consult Mel in West Town. Higher-powered nets require both cash and a high Critter Catching Level. Cinder, located in the Docks, is your go-to for upgrading the Axe, Pickax, Sickle, Shovel, and Watering Can. Each upgrade level demands specific ingots and substantial cash.

Keep these insights in mind, and your journey through Fae Farm will be a delightful and smooth experience.
