Assassin’s Creed Mirage takes the concept of criminal activities seriously, with Basim facing active pursuit by the authorities and even potential reports from the people of Baghdad if he’s spotted engaging in notorious acts. This marks a fresh addition to the series, introducing a mechanic centered around notoriety. If you’re wondering about effective ways to swiftly decrease your notoriety gauge in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, read on.
Notoriety is a novel feature in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, where Basim faces repercussions for his unlawful actions, such as theft, murder, or trespassing into restricted areas. These actions draw the attention of guards and cause your notoriety to rise. The consequences vary depending on the severity of the crime, with more serious infractions triggering more significant responses from the authorities.
The notoriety gauge, located in the bottom right corner of your screen when active, features three distinct levels, each presenting its own set of challenges:
- Level 1 Notoriety: Civilians may recognize Basim and alert the guards to his presence. Wanted Posters start appearing on walls throughout Baghdad.
- Level 2 Notoriety: Guards become more vigilant and likely to detect you. Archers patrol rooftops, making traversal more challenging. Civilian reporting continues, and more Wanted Posters appear, drawing attention from passersby.
- Level 3 Notoriety: Maximum notoriety level. The elite Shakiriyya guard is unleashed to track you down, a situation you definitely want to avoid. Guards have a high chance of spotting Basim, and civilians gather around Wanted Posters, further increasing the likelihood of recognition and guard intervention.
How to Rapidly Reduce Notoriety
Your top priority, whether due to a botched pickpocket attempt or a deadly encounter with a guard, should always be to lower your notoriety to an anonymous status. There are two methods to achieve this: removing Wanted Posters and bribing a Munadi.
Removing Wanted Posters: Each removed Wanted Poster reduces your Notoriety level by one. At maximum Notoriety, you’ll need to eliminate three Wanted Posters to revert to an anonymous state. These posters are typically found on walls featuring closely nailed-together wooden boards. Although they have set locations, Wanted Posters may not spawn consistently in these areas. However, when you’re within approximately 40 meters of a Wanted Poster, an icon appears on your compass, guiding you to the nearest location. These posters are scannable with Eagle Vision and appear as dark orange rectangles.
Bribing a Munadi: To instantly remove all notoriety, you can bribe a Munadi using a Power Token. Munadis are Caliphal officials often heard making announcements on Baghdad’s streets. When you discover one, their location is marked on the World Map. Bribing a Munadi is the fastest way to clear your notoriety, regardless of its current level or the crimes committed. Power Tokens can be obtained by completing specific Contracts and pickpocketing individuals on the streets.
Additional Methods to Reduce Notoriety: If your notoriety is gradually increasing but hasn’t reached the next threshold, you can prevent it from rising further by refraining from criminal activities. Utilize benches, haycarts, bushes, or tall grass to swiftly lower your notoriety gauge back to its current tier.
